PADI Advanced Open Water Course
Take your diving further — safely to 30 metres
The PADI Advanced Open Water course is a two-day / five-dive programme that builds on your Open Water certification.
There’s no classroom, no exam — just focused eLearning + practical dives to boost skills, confidence, and enjoyment.
Typical UK sites: Andark Lake (Day 1), Vobster Quay or Stoney Cove (Day 2).
Outcome: PADI Advanced Open Water certification — recognised worldwide.
What you’ll learn
Mandatory dives (2):
o Deep Adventure Dive — extends your depth limit to 30 m (100 ft)
o Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive
Your choice (3 more): Pick from Dry Suit, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck, Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) Rescue and more.
Skill building focus: Practical techniques for better trim, buoyancy, navigation, gas
planning, DSMB use and situational awareness — making you a more controlled, confident diver.
How it works
eLearning at home: Complete the online knowledge development before your dives.
Two training days:
o Day 1 — Andark Lake: Three adventure dives – for example
Dry Suit or Peak Performance Buoyancy (if already Dry Suit certified)
Delayed SMB
Underwater Navigation –
o Day 2 — Vobster Quay (Somerset): Two adventure dives
Deep
Wreck
Certification: Awarded after successful completion of all five adventure dives.

Course prerequisites
Minimum age: 12+
Certification: PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent
Medical: Satisfactory completion of a diving medical form

2. Complete your PADI eLearning before Day 1 so you’re ready to dive.

(Alternative sites such as Stoney Cove may be used; dive holidays abroad can also host your AOW dives.)
